Polish Easter Eggs – Pisanki

April 2, 2013 in Arts, Basic Information, Children, Food, General, Lifestyle, Polish Matters, Travelling Poland

Better late than never … I meant to bring up this post before Easter and not a day after, but time is more of a foe than a friend, especially during Holiday season. Anyway, a typical Easter tradition in Poland are the Polish Easter Eggs – known as pisanki. They come in a large variety of sorts and can be self-made or bought from professional “pisanki makers”. Here’s a brief look at the home made version …

Polish Prices – Alcohol and Cigarettes

March 28, 2013 in Banking & Finance, Basic Information, Finance, Food, General, Leisure, Lifestyle, Polish Business, Polish Matters, Travelling Poland

This is my second post on Polish prices. This time, I focused on alcohol and cigarettes as they seem to be of most interest to many tourists in Poland. At the same time, they will probably be a bargain for most of you coming down here from western countries. Hopefully, you will get the feel for what the prices are in Poland for those items.

Polish Easter and the Polish Mazurek cake

March 25, 2013 in Basic Information, Food, General, History, Leisure, Lifestyle, Polish Matters, Travelling Poland

Easter is approaching fast (too fast perhaps – time really is flying) and it’s about time to write something about the Polish Easter traditions. There are many, coming both from the Catholic religion as well as from pure, national habits. Hopefully, I will have the time to go through many of them, but we’ll start with the Polish Mazurek – an Easter cake.

Top ten reasons to visit Poland

February 27, 2013 in Attractions, Basic Information, Food, General, Healthcare, History, International, Language, Leisure, Lifestyle, People, Polish Business, Polish Matters, Shopping, Transport, Travelling Poland

I’ve been thinking about writing this post for a while and putting things together in my head. Finally, I hope to have come up with a decent “top ten list” for the reasons as to why one would like to visit Poland, regardless off where you’re actually coming from. I hope you will enjoy my top ten list.

Payment in Poland – cash, cards, wireless

February 17, 2013 in Banking & Finance, Basic Information, Finance, General, Lifestyle, Polish Business, Polish Matters, Shopping, Travelling Poland

Once you arrive in Poland, whether you like ot or not, you will have to pay for many things, just like you do pretty much anywhere else. Your hotel, taxi, food, public transport and so on. As Poland is not in the Euro zone you may be a bit confused about the currency and worry about possible payment methods. It’s an unneccessary worry – payment in Poland is as easy as anywhere else.

Driving in Poland – Part 3

February 14, 2013 in Basic Information, General, Leisure, Polish Matters, Transport, Travelling Poland

In the 3 part of the “driving in Poland” series I would like to go over the speed limits and fines which you can encounter. Also, some things need to be said about whether and how those limits are being observed by Polish drivers and what means does the Police use to catch those who don’t observe them.

Travelling Poland with kids

February 12, 2013 in Accomodation, Attractions, Basic Information, Children, Food, General, Polish Matters, Transport, Travelling Poland

Most uf us, parents, obviously travel with kids. And when we select a country to visit, we really need to know that the little ones will be safe and enjoy themselves in the process. As Poland may still seem quite exotic to many of you, I’d like to share some of my thought and observation on travelling to Poland with kids.

Polish Prices – Basic groceries

February 11, 2013 in Banking & Finance, Basic Information, General, Lifestyle, Polish Business, Polish Matters, Shopping, Travelling Poland

Poland is known to have low prices compared to most of the other European Union states. However, I found that it may be difficult for tourists and business travellers to actually get a feeling for how much they will need to pay. The Polish prices are low, but perhaps not as low as some make them out to be.

Polish store – travel guides, books, music and more!

February 10, 2013 in Accomodation, Arts, Attractions, Basic Information, Children, Food, General, History, International, Language, Leisure, Lifestyle, People, Polish Business, Polish Matters, Transport, Travelling Poland

It is generally quite difficult to find stuff related to Poland online. Of course, in Poland there are many web stores. But they’re in Polish and probably not well suited for foreigners. Which is why I decided to create an online Polish store with Polish merchandise on my own, for your convenience.

Polish in Poland – Part 2

February 8, 2013 in Basic Information, Language, Polish Matters, Travelling Poland

I’ll go on with the second post on the Polish language. And I will keep using the frase “Polish in Poland” – it’s almost a tongue-braker, isn’t it? The idea is to give you some rough guidelines on the language and the way we use it. This time, we’ll go through some real basics.
